Notice the pellets?  Yeah, you don’t see that kind of thing in Garfield, kids!

I’m kind of a trivia buff.  Mostly movies and TV stuff, although my brain just latches onto whatever it wants, and it’s sometimes surprising the things I can spout off like some sort of authority of totally useless nonsense.  But… I’m getting older, and I find remembering every single name of any bit-part player on a TV show is more than I can accomplish some days.  I’m not a human IMDB, or the Oracle of Bacon.  So I’ve taken to, when I see someone I know I should recognize, I just casually point at the screen and say, “That Guy…”  And Erin seems to accept it, like it’s still some kind of accomplishment.  When, in actuality, it’s more like the equivalent of a comedian whose entire bit is just making pop culture references, without actually telling any jokes.  It’s cheap, and it demeans us all.

But that’s what being 40 is.  You’re allowed to cheapen and demean things.  I’ve earned it by this point.

You’ll understand it when you’re on this side of that heavy, gray curtain.  You won’t like it.  But you’ll understand.  And I’ll still kick your butt at Rock and Roll Jeopardy.
