{"id":33,"date":"2014-09-16T22:35:40","date_gmt":"2014-09-17T05:35:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dontaskcomics.com\/captaintemerity\/?p=33"},"modified":"2016-02-11T12:17:00","modified_gmt":"2016-02-11T20:17:00","slug":"what-else-is-on-of-course-he-does-a-podcast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dontaskcomics.com\/captaintemerity\/what-else-is-on-of-course-he-does-a-podcast\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;What Else Is On?&#8221;  &#8211;> Of course he does a podcast&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\"  id=\"_ytid_19610\"  width=\"500\" height=\"281\"  data-origwidth=\"500\" data-origheight=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/skcxJpi5IP0?enablejsapi=1&#038;autoplay=0&#038;cc_load_policy=0&#038;cc_lang_pref=&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;loop=0&#038;rel=1&#038;fs=1&#038;playsinline=0&#038;autohide=2&#038;theme=dark&#038;color=red&#038;controls=1&#038;disablekb=0&#038;\" class=\"__youtube_prefs__  epyt-is-override  no-lazyload\" title=\"YouTube player\"  allow=\"fullscreen; accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen data-no-lazy=\"1\" data-skipgform_ajax_framebjll=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>When I was a kid, after wanting to be a superhero, and then a game show host, I eventually wanted to be a radio DJ. \u00a0I probably assumed this would mean I&#8217;d get to talk a lot on air, but it more likely would&#8217;ve been me working 2am slots with no one listening playing the hard-rocking hits of the 1950s.<\/p>\n<p>Be that as it may, I eventually figured out that what it really is I like to do, it&#8217;s talking. \u00a0Conversing more than just talking to hear my own voice (although I do seem to enjoy that too).<\/p>\n<p>A few years back, I got introduced to podcasts by one of my best friends who said, &#8220;Why aren&#8217;t we doing this?&#8221; \u00a0So we did, and almost every show we&#8217;ve done for <a title=\"The d20\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thed20.net\" target=\"_blank\">The d20<\/a> has shown exactly why we shouldn&#8217;t be doing it. \u00a0\ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p>But that hasn&#8217;t stopped us so far. \u00a0And, if no one else was listening, I still would. \u00a0Not just because of narcissism, but more because I love my group of friends, and I feel like I&#8217;m my best when I&#8217;m with them. \u00a0I learn from them, I have the most fun with them. \u00a0I was recording our gaming sessions anyways, but we have done a massively irregular show for a while. \u00a0It&#8217;s hugely inappropriate and offensive, so, know that going in.<\/p>\n<p>Now, about two years ago, I discovered a show on a site called Spreecast hosted by two excellent guys. \u00a0It was, at the time, called &#8220;What We&#8217;re Watching Weekly,&#8221; and the title described the it perfectly. \u00a0The nice thing about Spreecast was that it was as open as you wanted it to be, so you could have people jump into your show while it was going on, joining the discussion, then jumping off to make way for the next person. \u00a0And, on a whim, I wound up on screen, which was a lot of fun. \u00a0So I kept coming back, every week, to take part of the show. \u00a0Glenn and Dave were incredibly gracious to let me be a part of things. \u00a0Over time, Dave had to step back, but Glenn carried on, and people like Gregor, Casey, Mike, Evan, Beatmaster, and more all filled in time here and there. \u00a0Gregor and I really sort of took up two of the seats so regularly that, eventually, when Glenn himself was having problems getting online or had scheduling conflicts, we tried to keep the show running for him.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s face it&#8230; \u00a0The show was, and always would be, Glenn and Dave&#8217;s. \u00a0And we treated it with the reverence of a couple fanboys because that&#8217;s what we were. \u00a0We were fortunate enough that people who watched for the original hosts still would show up when it was just us. \u00a0But Spreecast changed their business model, and while Gregor and I had already been talking about starting a second show that was actually ours, we also saw that WWWW was going to kind of lose its home, after it had already lost its original hosts.<\/p>\n<p>As fans, neither Gregor nor I wanted to see the show disappear. \u00a0We loved it. \u00a0We loved doing it. \u00a0We loved it being a tribute to the guys that started it. \u00a0But if we took it somewhere else, could we really keep it the same?
