I’m trying to not freak out.

Shortly after The Girl and I got together…  Maybe a little after that.  Certainly after I started working at The Box…  I got hooked on Diablo II.  And it was… a weak time for me.

People like to talk about the giant time suck that is Facebook.  Or Farmville.  Or Castleville (okay, that last one I’ve definitely fallen victim to).  But they all pale compared to what Diablo II did to me.  Sure, it may’ve been a precursor to City of Heroes in my long span of sleepless nights.  But it was my first, real unrelenting obsession.  A Link To The Past I managed to beat in a very blurry weekend (at a friend’s house, mind you.  I didn’t own a Nintendo up until the 64).  Similarly, Ys Books I & II.

Diablo II came at a time when I lived on my own (mostly), had a computer right next to my bed, with the TV just behind it, and my job was just easy enough that I could handle doing it on roughly 45 minutes of sleep a night.  Which was longer than my commute.  One-way.

I can’t say that I’m not worried about what the 15th of May will bring upon this house.  If Erin still played The Sims, we might at least be on even ground.  As it is, this will probably be what makes me drag the desk back into the office again to set my desktop up (finally).

Not to mention the Little Debbie snacks.  Oh my sweet chocolate bunnies…

Counting the minutes.
