Had a crazy dinner out with friends tonight.  Almost blanked on it being a Bonus Baujahr night.   Thankfully, the cats kept me pinned to my chair until I remembered.

So…  Aside from the obvious that you see in the strips (and other works) Levi does, let me give you a little insight into his sense of humor.

See, I tend to share things a bit too easily sometimes.  And I don’t think through the consequences.  For instance, one time my mom sent a scan of a piece of “artwork” I did in 9th grade.  It was a pretty basic landscape done with pastels.  Looks pretty much exactly like the paintings you see in the background of the living room on Family Guy, if you ask me.

Anyways, I forwarded the email from my mother to Levi.  Because’s he’s always drawing stuff for me, and I thought it would be funny to give back (or something akin to that).

Yeah.  Not as funny as Levi deciding that I am “the most famous artist in Levi’s World.”  The next thing I know, my “artwork” is in this strip.  Which was then published in Flint Comix.  Which was, officially, my first published work, ever.  One of those milestones I kept trying to work myself up to, Levi threw at me on a lark.  He then later gave my my first publication as a writer (also in Flint Comix, also in Baujahr, and also coming up here), a bit more officially.  But what he effectively did, and I don’t know if he realized it at the time or not, was take a big pressure off of me.  He took something that I was taking way too seriously to enjoy or feel confident about, and he just ticked it off my list for me.  As a gag.

He probably doesn’t know how much that actually meant to me, either.  But… that’s Levi.  He just rules like that.
